Beaulieu International Group to acquire IFG Asota, strengthening global fibre leadership

Beaulieu International Group (B.I.G.) has signed an agreement to acquire 100 percent of the shares in IFG Asota GMBH, an Austria-based fibre specialist and a recognised player in the global market for synthetic staple fibres.

The transaction reinforces Beaulieu’s Fibres Division, Beaulieu Fibres International (BFI), and supports its ambition to become the world’s most reliable partner for sustainable non-woven solutions.

IFG Asota brings strong expertise in polypropylene (PP), polyamide (PA), polyethylene (PE) and biopolymer fibres such as PLA, serving high-end applications across flooring, automotive, filtration and technical textiles.

The company is particularly known for its innovation capabilities, supported by an in-house R&D centre and a unique pilot line that enables rapid prototyping and shorter development cycles. Its know-how in technical applications, as well as bio-based and recycled polymers, aligns closely with Beaulieu’s roadmap towards product leadership and sustainability.

According to Jean-Baptiste De Ruyck, CEO of Beaulieu International Group, the acquisition fits squarely within the group’s long-term strategy: “We are building a flexible and agile global platform that strengthens our leadership, deepens our position in existing markets and creates new growth opportunities. The acquisition of Asota accelerates that strategy.”

The combination of Beaulieu’s industrial scale and operational expertise with Asota’s material knowledge and R&D capabilities is expected to further strengthen the group’s leadership position in Europe and beyond. In parallel with the closing of the transaction, the Belgian entity IFG Exelto will enter into a toll manufacturing agreement with BFI, producing fibres on its behalf and adding operational flexibility and secured production capacity.

Following completion, Beaulieu and IFG Asota intend to continue investing jointly in innovation, sustainability and customer-focused solutions, addressing the evolving needs of the non-woven and technical textiles markets. For the Belgian M&A community, the transaction underlines Beaulieu International Group’s continued appetite for strategic, innovation-driven acquisitions in support of long-term growth.
