BC Partners has acquired a majority stake in Dutch healthcare tooling specialist IGS GeboJagema, in partnership with existing investor Smile Invest and the company’s management team.
The move marks a new chapter for IGS as it aims to accelerate its international expansion and strengthen its position in the high-precision medical tooling market.
As part of the transaction, BC Partners will hold a controlling interest, while Smile Invest remains on board as a financial partner and the IGS management team retains a minority stake. Rabo Private Equity, previously a minority shareholder, will exit the business.
Headquartered in Eindhoven with a growing U.S. presence in Peachtree City, Georgia, IGS designs and manufactures ultra-precise moulds used in the production of critical medical devices, such as drug delivery systems, diagnostic tools, and contact lenses. With decades of industry expertise, the company is recognized as a global leader in healthcare tooling.
“We’re thrilled to welcome BC Partners as a strategic investor”, says Herman Rusch, CEO of IGS. “Their healthcare and manufacturing expertise, along with their experience growing companies like Aenova and Pharmathen, make them an ideal partner for our next growth phase.”
The new partnership will focus on expanding IGS’s footprint in fast-growing healthcare segments like GLP-1 injectables and exploring new verticals that require precision tooling. It also paves the way for further investment in organic growth and selective acquisitions.
Matthew Evans, Managing Director at BC Partners, adds: “IGS is a world-class player in medical tooling. We’re excited to support their continued growth and help bring their sophisticated capabilities to even more healthcare companies around the globe.”
Smile Invest, which has backed IGS’s global expansion over recent years, welcomed BC Partners into the fold. “Together, we look forward to the next phase of value creation” concludes Smile Invest partners Bart Cauberghe and Ad Notenboom.
The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and advice from IGS’s works council. Rothschild & Co acted as M&A advisor to IGS and its shareholders.
