Aukera secures 105 million euros in oversubscribed equity round

Brussels-based renewable energy developer Aukera has closed a 105 million euros equity round, oversubscribed amid strong investor appetite for its 15 GW pipeline of European renewable projects.

The raise marks the company’s second equity round and brings in Belgium’s sovereign wealth fund SFPIM (Société Fédérale de Participations et d’Investissement) as a new investor.

The round also saw continued support from existing shareholders, including AtlasInvest and Reggeborgh, alongside several other international investors. Financial advisors on the transaction were MW&L Capital Partners and Rothschild & Co.

Founded in 2021 by Pascal Emsens and Catalin Breaban, Aukera is building a diversified portfolio of solar PV, onshore wind and battery energy storage projects across Europe. The company’s pipeline now exceeds 15 GW in the UK, Germany, Belgium, Italy and Romania. More than half of this capacity – over 8 GW – is focused on battery storage, reflecting the growing importance of grid stability and flexibility in European energy markets.

The fresh capital will be used to accelerate Aukera’s mature development pipeline and bring projects into construction and operation.

Commenting on the transaction, co-founders Emsens and Breaban said the funding was “a milestone we are extremely proud of” and highlighted the fact that around half of the team has invested personally in the company.

AtlasInvest founder Marcel van Poecke added that the round underscored investor confidence in Aukera’s “bold vision and fast-paced execution.”

Headquartered in Brussels, Aukera employs teams across London, Edinburgh, Berlin, Rome and Bucharest.
