The Belgium-based APK Group has acquired Turris, a Dutch company specializing in mobile telecom installations.
The move solidifies APK Group's position in the Netherlands’ telecom infrastructure sector. Turris, with approximately 50 employees, will maintain its brand, location, and operate as a separate entity. It will closely collaborate with CIAG, another APK Group company, which focuses on fixed telecom installations.
Both Turris and CIAG are involved in designing, installing, expanding, managing, and maintaining telecom networks. While CIAG specializes in fixed networks like HFC and FttH, Turris brings expertise in mobile networks, including 4G and 5G infrastructure. Turris also has niche capabilities in Rope Access for high structures, lighting poles, and indoor networks, such as those at airports and sports stadiums.
The collaboration aims to accelerate the rollout of a dense 5G network in the Netherlands, with antennas planned every 400 meters, linked by a fiber-optic backbone. Turris will focus on mobile components, while CIAG handles fiber connectivity. Together, they aim to deliver high-speed and high-quality implementation across the country.
Fred Leverman and Richard Hogendoorn, directors of CIAG, will lead Turris operations alongside Turris founder Gerben Kamphuis. Kamphuis expressed confidence in APK Group's ability to expand Turris' offerings, while noting his future focus will shift to business development after a transition period.
The financial details of the acquisition remain undisclosed.
