Antwerp social-impact startup Maurice & Nora raises 1 million euros

post-title

Maurice & Nora, an Antwerp-based social-impact startup connecting families and seniors with students for flexible non-medical home support, has secured 1 million euros in fresh capital.

Just one year after its launch, the company plans to use the funding to accelerate its commercial rollout, strengthen its team, and further develop its proprietary technology platform.

The startup aims to become a "societal unicorn" – a business delivering strong social impact while achieving financial success.

The platform already boasts over 3,000 screened students across Flanders and Brussels, 2,000 registered private clients, and more than 10 corporate clients offering its services as an employee benefit.

Maurice & Nora matches seniors and families with students for everyday tasks like grocery shopping, companionship, transportation, light housekeeping, or childcare. Its AI-driven platform ensures efficient and personalized connections, while features like an AI Voice Agent simplify appointment scheduling. The company’s unbiased matching approach, based on personality, interests, and skills, enhances user experience and scalability.

The funding round, backed by investors including Coformaco, Dries Buytaert, and Shaping Impact Si3 Fund, will fuel commercial growth, B2B partnerships, and platform enhancements.

CEO Thomas Butstraen emphasized the startup’s ambition to make non-medical support as accessible as ordering a meal or taxi while preserving human connection. With a dual focus on direct consumer needs and employer partnerships, Maurice & Nora addresses the growing demand for flexible care solutions, particularly for women who disproportionately bear caregiving responsibilities.

The company also creates meaningful student jobs, offering financial independence and local impact. Long-term, Maurice & Nora aims to expand internationally, combining technology with trust and human proximity to redefine on-demand care.
