Ackermans & van Haaren (AvH), a listed holding company from Antwerp, has acquired a third of the British maritime service provider V.Group. Together with the European investment manager STAR Capital, AvH acquires V.Group from Advent International.

V.Group is a global leader in ship management and maritime support, offering services such as technical management, crew management, and other specialized services.

Headquartered in London, the company has 50 offices in 30 countries worldwide with approximately 2,900 employees.

V.Group has a network of more than 44,000 seafarers and manages approximately 900 vessels, servicing a total of 2,500 vessels. In 2022, V.Group achieved a turnover of more than 650 million dollars and an EBITDA of more than 90 million dollars.

The market in which V.Group is active is growing due to increasing complexity in regulations and technology. The company plays a key role in the decarbonization of the shipping industry with its ESG services.

AvH's investment in V.Group, worth approximately 150 million dollars, is expected to be completed in the second half of 2024, subject to regulatory approvals. Piet Dejonghe, co-CEO of AvH, emphasizes that this investment fits perfectly within AvH's investment criteria, thanks to the strong management team, the market leading position and the growth potential of V.Group.
