SBB Accountants & Advisors is accelerating its acquisition strategy with the purchase of three accountancy firms across the Flemish provinces of Limburg, East Flanders, and Flemish Brabant. These latest acquisitions further expand the group’s footprint following earlier takeovers this year.
In 2024, SBB already acquired Certacc, Fiscalon, and Moors & Meekers, and earlier this month, it took a significant stake in The Ecological Entrepreneur (TEE), a firm specializing in sustainable business transitions.
Now, SBB is stepping up the pace. In Hasselt, the group is acquiring Kantoor Zuid – J&V Consult, a six-person firm.
“This move strengthens our presence in the Limburg capital”, says Bart Nelissen, SBB’s Commercial Director. “We’re integrating the team into our newly expanded Hasselt office, which is designed for growth. The site also houses Ameleo – a company we acquired in 2022 – which supports SMEs dealing with scale-up challenges. This broader offering aligns with our vision of being a true entrepreneurial coach, offering more than just number crunching. Financials are the foundation, but we go beyond that. That’s why we’re open to more acquisitions like this one.”
Aragon acquisition supports talent shortage
In East Flanders, SBB has acquired Aragon, a smaller firm whose integration helps address the group’s growing demand for staff in the SME sector.
“The talent market is extremely tight”, notes SBB CEO Raf Dom. “Aragon is a welcome addition to our Ghent operations. Our acquisition strategy is based on two principles: deepening and broadening. Deepening means enhancing our existing expertise, while broadening refers to expanding our services to meet evolving client needs. Entrepreneurs today are facing more than just accounting and tax issues – they need guidance through increasing administrative and regulatory complexity. We’re committed to providing that support.”
FiskoData becomes SBB’s 30th office in Flanders
In its largest deal of the trio, SBB has acquired FiskoData in Dilbeek, Flemish Brabant – a firm with 22 employees. “This acquisition strengthens our presence in the Brussels periphery”, says Wim Hellemans, COO and Director of SBB’s Office Network.
“With FiskoData, we now operate 30 offices across Flanders. This also reinforces our Schepdaal office and positions us to better serve the growing number of businesses relocating to the area. The addition of FiskoData’s team significantly increases our local impact while reinforcing our mission to coach entrepreneurs with a wide range of advisory services.”
Acquisition appetite not yet satisfied
Despite this latest wave of acquisitions, SBB’s growth ambitions are far from over. “There are still regions where we want to boost our presence”, says CEO Raf Dom. “But we remain committed to respectful integration. While all acquired firms operate under the SBB banner and are aligned with our services, clients must continue to feel secure in the relationships they’ve built with their trusted advisors. That’s why we’ve developed a complete integration plan focused on continuity and quality.”
The CEO emphasized that SBB's broader strategy includes not only scaling but evolving alongside its clients. “Our stake in The Ecological Entrepreneur (TEE) reflects that”, Dom adds. “Through this strategic investment, we can help clients make the transition to more sustainable business models – something that’s increasingly important. Today, an accountant and advisory firm must grow with its clients, both in services and in values.”
