AB InBev eyes 700 million dollar takeover of U.S. punch brand BeatBox

post-title

AB InBev is preparing a major move outside its core beer business, with plans to acquire American punch producer BeatBox for roughly 700 million dollars.

De Tijd reports this based on reporting by The Wall Street Journal.

The deal would support the Leuven-based brewer’s strategy to diversify as traditional beer consumption stagnates.

BeatBox, founded in 2011, sells ready-to-drink punch packaged in cartons and has become particularly popular among younger drinkers. The brand built momentum through partnerships with music festivals and by offering products that combine low prices – around 4 to 5 dollars per unit – with relatively high alcohol content of 8 percent to 11 percent. The company generated about 175 million dollars in revenue in 2024.

Analysts say the potential acquisition reflects the blurring boundaries between beer, spirits, and wine. BeatBox’s punches are wine-based, distinguishing them from classic rum- or whisky-based punch blends.
