Belgian pharmaceutical company A.forall has announced a major strategic shift, selling its Retail & Hospital division, known as The Pharmacy House, to Abacus Medicine.
The deal, which covers all operations, contracts and staff, is expected to close before the end of the year, pending regulatory approvals.
At the same time, A.forall has appointed Steen Vangsgaard as its new Chief Executive Officer. He takes over from Filip Van de Vliet, who has led the company since 2019 and will move into the role of Chairman of the Board.
The moves mark a clear strategic choice for A.forall to focus entirely on the development, licensing and commercialization of generic medicines worldwide. “Generics are more essential than ever: they strengthen health systems, reduce costs and improve access”, says Vangsgaard.
Van de Vliet highlighted the decision as a way to give both the Retail & Hospital unit and the Generics business the focus they need to grow.
A.forall will now operate solely under its generics banner, with headquarters in Belgium, offices in Ireland and the U.S., and more than 30 products marketed in over 60 countries.
