Plastiflex strengthens market position with acquisitions of Smooth-Bor and TIK.
Belgian manufacturer Plastiflex Group N.V. has further strengthened its market position with the acquisitions of U.S.-based Smooth-Bor Plastics and Slovenian company TIK d.o.o.
These acquisitions enhance Plastiflex’s leadership in medical tubing systems and open new markets within the medical sector.
Expansion in the medical sector
Plastiflex, specialized in high-quality plastic hoses and customized plastic components, reinforces its number one position in respiratory tubing for applications such as CPAP and anesthesia equipment with the acquisition of Smooth-Bor.
At the same time, the acquisition of TIK provides access to the catheter market and other medical consumables, expanding the group’s portfolio in fluid management.
With these acquisitions, Plastiflex now operates 12 production facilities worldwide, seven of which are dedicated to medical applications. The factories are located in North America, Europe, and Asia, aligning with the company’s strategy of local production for local markets.
Rapid growth through acquisition strategy
Since its acquisition by investment firm IK Partners in 2021, Plastiflex has accelerated its ‘buy-and-build’ strategy by completing 4 acquisitions in the medical sector.
For 2025, the group expects revenue of approximately 200 million euros and an EBITDA of around 50 million, with the medical sector as the main driver. Plastiflex aims to double its revenue in the coming years.
Plastiflex CEO Piet Gruwez emphasizes the strategic value of the acquisitions: “With Smooth-Bor, we strengthen our position in the growing market for respiratory tubing systems, while TIK provides us access to new medical applications with significant growth potential.”
