The Dutch VDL Group has officially taken over the bus division of the bankrupt Van Hool.
The company reported this in a press release on Tuesday.
In Koningshooikt near Lier, 250 jobs will be retained at the bankrupt bus builder Van Hool after the partial takeover by VDL Groep.
VDL adds parts of Van Hool in Belgium and the production facility in North Macedonia. Amounts involved in the acquisition are not being disclosed.
All employees who worked at Van Hool before the bankruptcy will be offered to apply for the 250 jobs in Koningshooikt in the coming days or weeks. This concerns 2,403 former employees, according to VDAB just under half of them now have a new job. If the 250 new vacancies at VDL were also filled, more than half of the former employees would have returned to work.
