B3 Partners is acquiring a majority stake in Medipartner alongside its co-founder and CEO, Sophie Mestré, and other executive team members.
“For me personally, this is a truly meaningful milestone,” says Sophie, who has helped build Medipartner from its entrepreneurial vision into a trusted partner for the Belgian healthcare industry since its founding in 2016. The company provides its clients – active in the pharma industry – with recruitment and outsourcing solutions.
“None of this would have been possible without the trust of our clients, the dedication of all our colleagues across Medipartner, and the support of the many partners who have accompanied us on this journey,” she adds.
The sale marks the exit of We Are Jane after seven years of empowering the women-led business with the capital it needed to grow and innovate. During the 2024 M&A Forum, partner Muriel Uytterhaegen unpacked We Are Jane’s M&A value-creation strategy, which has been an essential part of Medipartner’s growth in recent years.
“Some investments are about numbers, but the most beautiful ones are about people,” comments We Are Jane partner Conny Vandendriessche. “Medipartner was the first investment of our fund and Sophie Mestré became a shareholder for the first time…the beginning of a special process. We experienced fantastic moments together, but also difficult periods. We both made mistakes, had to make difficult decisions and, above all, learned a lot.”
This, she explains, is what entrepreneurship is about, after all: falling, yes. But getting up again and again, adapting and building a stronger company in the end.
Conny commends what Sophie and her team have achieved together. “By gathering the right people around them, building a strong team and continuing to believe in the future, Medipartner has once again found a great growth path.”
Beginning the next phase with B3 Partners
According to a statement by B3 Partners, the private equity firm was impressed by Medipartner’s strong entrepreneurial culture, deep healthcare expertise and shared ambition to build a sustainable company with a recognised market-leading position. “We look forward to working alongside the team to further strengthen Medipartner’s position while preserving the values that have driven its success to date.”
Sophie is especially excited that the members of her executive team have chosen to become shareholders alongside her. “It reflects our shared belief in Medipartner, our people, and the future we are building together,” she says.
The Merodis transaction team that advised Medipartner was led by Dirk Marckx, Juliette Demey and Victor Boes, with legal guidance from Lieven Bogaert and Thomas Van Boven at Advocom, as well as from Pieter Van den Broeck and Olivier De Witte at Monard Law.
“Looking back with gratitude. Looking ahead with confidence,” Sophie concludes.
