200 psychologists are associated with the acquired company iPractice.
The Flemish investment firm Smile Invest has acquired a majority stake in the Dutch psychology practice iPractice, which employs around two hundred psychologists. The participation of Smile Invest has been approved by the Dutch Healthcare Authority. Founder Gijs Coppens and the management team will retain a minority stake.
Smile Invest has been active in the Netherlands for some time, with investments in companies such as solar energy specialist Tenten Solar, truck loading system manufacturer Cargo Floor, safety training provider FMTC, security system supplier SmartSD, sensor specialist Sentech, medical company Oldelft Ultrasound, underfloor heating expert Magnum, and injection mold manufacturer IGS.
Smile Invest was founded in 2017 by Urbain Vandeurzen, the founder and former CEO of the technology company LMS and former chairman of Gimv. The firm raised €350 million from Flemish and Dutch entrepreneurial families. Last month, Vandeurzen raised an additional €260 million through the new fund Smile Sail to invest in software companies.
