CPP Investments acquires 20 percent stake in team.blue at 4.8 billion euros valuation

Canadian institutional investor CPP Investments has acquired a 20 percent stake in team.blue, one of Europe’s largest digital service providers for SMEs, in a transaction valuing the company at 4.8 billion euros.

This investment marks a significant milestone for Ghent-headquartered team.blue, which serves 3.3 million customers across 22 European countries. The company offers a wide range of digital tools for online presence, marketing, compliance, and e-commerce, targeting the growing needs of SMBs in a competitive digital landscape.

team.blue will continue to be majority-owned by private equity firm Hg, which has backed the group’s expansive M&A strategy in recent years. With over 2,500 employees and a portfolio of 60+ brands, team.blue has become one of the largest privately held technology companies in Europe.

“We are thrilled to welcome CPP Investments as a long-term partner aligned with our growth vision”, says Jonas Dhaenens (Founder), Claudio Corbetta (CEO), and Dawn Marriott (Executive Chair) in a joint statement.

CPP Investments, which manages more than 632 billion Canadian dollars in assets, sees the deal as an opportunity to support continued SaaS portfolio growth in the resilient European SMB tech market. “team.blue operates in an attractive and expanding sector, and we look forward to supporting its multi-vector growth strategy”, says Hafiz Lalani, Managing Director at CPP Investments.

The deal was advised by a consortium of firms including Arma Partners, EY, Deloitte, JP Morgan and Linklaters.
