Limburg-based coach company De Zigeuner is entering a new chapter. Tom De Troyer, son-in-law of the Vanheusden family, is taking over the business while continuing to build on its strong family roots.
The founding family members — brothers Rik, Jan and Paul Vanheusden, along with their spouses Hedwig and Monique — will remain active in the company for the coming years to ensure a smooth transition.
Founded by Hubert Vanheusden, De Zigeuner has long been a household name in Limburg’s bus travel sector. With the three brothers nearing retirement, they have now passed the torch to De Troyer, who is married to Jan’s daughter, Sofie.
Raised in Hasselt, De Troyer is well known in the consultancy world. He co-founded the Belgian branch of French advisory firm Eight Advisory in 2018, later helping establish its Dutch office as well. The firm has earned a strong reputation in restructuring, mergers, and acquisitions, including advising the Flemish government during the collapse of bus manufacturer Van Hool.
With his background and family ties, De Troyer aims to guide De Zigeuner into its next phase while preserving the trusted compass of the founding family.
