Brussels-born start-up Chift raises €10.5 million Series A funding round led by European fintech investor BlackFin Capital Partners.
After a successful €2.3 million seed round in 2024, backed by Entourage, Shapers, Seeder Fund and Wallonie Entreprendre, all previous investors have doubled down on their support for the software integration tool.
“There are some teams that, as soon as you meet them, you just really want them to be super successful. And you hope you can find a way to partner up and be a tiny part of that journey. This is exactly how we felt when we met Gauthier Henroz, Henry Hertoghe and Matthieu Hertoghe [founders] a couple of years ago,” reveals Shapers co-founder Thomas Teixeira da Mota. “It was our second fund investment at Shapers back in 2024. It's been a lot of fun to see them execute so well alongside the talented and growing Chift API team!”
Founded in 2022, Chift has grown its revenue more than tenfold – connecting over 150 software companies (such as Teamleader, Revolut, Qonto and Mollie) with over 50,000 SMEs across 13 countries – and its team to 35 people in the last two years. “Four years ago, most people thought we were fools to start a company in the integration industry. Most who tried before us had failed. Connecting financial software in Europe was too fragmented, too local, too hard,” Gauthier points out. However, much like the fool, they went in not knowing how complex it really was. “We just did it,” he admits.
Reflecting back on that stubbornness, he believes it is their edge:
“A handful of slightly crazy first customers believed in us anyway, and that is why we kept going. It let us start where others stopped.”
Today, software companies can integrate with Chift’s unified API once and instantly connect to more than 120 financial systems across six categories: accounting, invoicing, point-of-sale (POS), e-commerce, payments and property management (PMS). “We’re entering an exciting moment for SMEs across Europe. Between the shift toward E-invoicing and the rise of AI, digitalisation is no longer optional and data is key,” says Matthieu. “This is exactly where Chift API operates as the infrastructure to connect all the financial data together.”
The capital raised from the Series A round will fund Chift’s growth across Europe over the next few years, including Spain, the UK, the Nordics, Germany and Italy. Their goal is to “reach every small- and medium-sized business in Europe through the software they use, the accountants they trust and the partners they work with,” according to Gauthier.
Connecting the infrastructure was just step one of the integration; “Bringing intelligence across the different layers is what we are building next!” Henry elaborates. The funding will also support the construction of an agentic layer that not only moves financial data but understands it, sets itself up, and acts on it.
“Financial data connectivity is genuinely hard to build, especially in Europe, where data is scattered across dozens of local systems that were never designed to talk to each other,” tells Pauline Brunel, investment director at BlackFin Capital Partners. “That very difficulty is what makes Chift's position valuable…We're proud to support Gauthier, Henry and Matthieu in building Chift into the connectivity infrastructure for business software in the AI era.”
Thomas echoes Pauline, adding: “This is just another tiny milestone on their long journey, but one which allows them to continue to build relentlessly for their customers and partners! And I'm glad we can do this together with Entourage Ventures and BlackFin Capital Partners.”
