Anheuser-Busch InBev has announced that it has exercised its contractual right to reacquire the 49.9 percent minority stake in its US-based metal container plant operations from a consortium of institutional investors led and/or advised by affiliates of Apollo Global Management.
The transaction values the minority stake at an estimated 3 billion dollars. Following completion, AB InBev will regain full ownership of the metal container plants, which form a key part of its vertically integrated supply chain in the United States.
The US metal container operations comprise 7 manufacturing facilities across 6 states and support AB InBev’s beverage brands by ensuring supply security, cost efficiency and speed of innovation.
The facilities also provide manufacturing employment and contribute to local economic activity across the regions in which they operate.
AB InBev stated that the repurchase will be funded with cash on hand and is consistent with the group’s capital allocation framework, which prioritises long-term shareholder value creation. The company expects the transaction to be earnings-per-share accretive in the first year following completion.
Subject to customary closing conditions, the transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026.
AB InBev is listed on Euronext Brussels (ABI), the New York Stock Exchange (BUD), the Mexican Stock Exchange (ANB) and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (ANH).
