Soudal acquires Italian adhesive manufacturer for 100 million euros

Silicone producer Soudal from Turnhout is making the largest acquisition in its history.

The Soudal Group is Europe’s largest independent manufacturer of adhesives, sealants and polyurethane foams for both professionals and private users. The Belgian family business from Turnhout, which was founded in 1966 by Vic Swerts, has now grown into an international player and expert in chemical construction specialties.

The Soudal Group has 25 production locations on five continents, 77 sales offices and exports to more than 140 countries with approximately 4,000 employees worldwide. The group achieved a turnover of 1.4 billion euros in 2023. A long-standing vision of innovation – with significant investments in R&D – and adjustments to local market needs laid the foundation for the success of the Soudal Group.

On Friday, January 19, the company announced that it was acquiring Italian adhesives manufacturer Durante Adesivi.

The acquisition of the industrial adhesives manufacturer adds 100 million euros in turnover to the group. Soudal is aiming for a group turnover of 1.5 billion euros in 2024.

“Durante Adesivi’s market expertise and future potential will enable us to boost our international ambitions in the field of adhesives and their industrial applications,” says founder and owner Vic Swerts (83) in a press release.
