French banking group BPCE buys Bank Nagelmackers

Caisse d'Epargne Hauts de France takes over the Belgian bank Nagelmackers.

This is evident from a statement from the acquirer.

Caisse d’Epargne Hauts de France, part of the French banking group BPCE, has acquired the Belgian bank Nagelmackers. For several years now, Nagelmackers has mainly focused on wealthy clients and institutional investors.

Nagelmackers, founded in 1747 and the oldest bank in Belgium, has been owned by the Chinese insurer Anbang since 2015. Anbang, later acquired by Dajia Insurance after financial problems, had put the bank up for sale.

Belgian state bank Belfius, which was also interested in the takeover, missed the net, reports De Tijd.

The acquisition price has not been disclosed.
